Hi Jim - The first thing I have to say to you & anyone else in your situation is - since you have no idea what this software is for - YOU SHOULD NOT USE IT on a main Hard Drive containing valuable Data !
First try it out on an old HDD on an old PC or Laptop to prevent accidents ! Practice makes perfect & all that !!!
Right - onto what it Is / Does . . .
Imagine you have a sheet of A4 paper - you fold it in half & then in half again . . . You STILL have ONE piece of paper BUT with FOUR separate sections ! This software does EXACTLY that to Hard Drives - only it doesn't have to be halves - it can be any size from about 5Mb upwards - ( smaller would be unable to contain relevant data & Format etc. ) - although the smallest I use is 100 Mb for my Boot Data Drive !
I've personally been building PC's / Hard Drives etc. for around 15 years now & a method I developed early on & has served me perfectly ever since is that I typically set ALL PC Hard Drives up as C: / D: / E: / F: / G: & H:
C: Boot Data - ( 100mb )
D: Environment - XP / Seven
E: FallBack - Usually XP BUT in the past I've used 2000 - whatever the customer owns. Even Win 98 would work BUT it would need updating with add-ons in order to read larger drives & those with NTFS File systems etc.
F: Programs - This is where Office & AutoRoute / Encarta etc. & ALL the GAOTD Downloads are installed to . . . NOT Windows Drive / Program Files !!!!
G: Media Drive - All scans / photos / Films / Music etc - NOT in Windows / Documents !
H: Virtual DVD - Stores setups / drivers & Backups etc.
I: & if the Hard Disk is BIG enough - purely for Backup !
WHY bother going to all this trouble ? Well - having learned from WAY to Many instances where a Windows crash has left everything LOST ! - yes there are softwares to get stuff back - BUT this way - if Windows crashes - load up the FallBack Windows - MOVE everything you need off the Main Windows Drive & Restore it - NO DRAMA !
PLUS - the only way to lose absolutely everything as with a single Drive C: is if the MBR ( Master Boot Record ) - the Index for the entire Hard Disk is damaged - & even then - There are 2 MBRs ( 1 as backup ).
This also DRAMATICALLY cuts the time of Defrags etc.& you can backup the stuff you need to - individually & quicker - AWAY from the Windows Drive.
I appreciate that this system is not for everyone - companies would NEVER do this - 'cos it's way to much work for them to bother with ! I've set up more than 200 systems this way & NOT ONE complaint - in fact in a few cases of Virus or system crash - it's proved a God-Send !
IF Poss - I do try to put the FallBack Windows on a second HDD even if it's only 3Gig in size - it's only there as a last resort !
As for Easeus PM - I used to use PowerQuest / Symantec Partition Magic - it was brilliant BUT as soon as I tried Easeus PM when it was given away here the year before last - I swapped to it FOR GOOD -- it is excellent. I wish I'd had it years ago. I've found it streets ahead of others I've tried including Partition Magic. Paragon is good BUT I prefer Easeus - it's much more No-Nonsense. It does what it's supposed to - WELL !
Easeus PM can be Installed & Run within Windows BUT I just make the CD version & use it to boot up the target machine - even then it's like looking at the Windows version - it's really well laid out ! ALL operations can can be carried out at this point including - Create a NEW 'Drive Structure' from scratch / Stretch & Shrink existing 'Drive Structures' / move a Partition from place to place on the drive - ( NOT to be done TO or BEFORE the Vista / 7 Partition ) - & tons more. It's a seriously POWERFUL & RELIABLE bit of kit . . . BUT It's laid out well enough that Learners can trial it too !
While Partitioning from within Windows - a re-boot is required to complete the process as Windows locks the hard Drive while it's in use ! Running from the CD @ Boot up completes ALL functions there & then because the Drive is not in use by anything else !!!

One thing I don't like, if someone is trying to monitor my computer. In order to install this program, you need to agree with the terms: they will be allowed to monitor some of your hardware and your software. Demographic reasons? That's what they say. I say ain't gonna happen.

I'm gonna attempt this in simple terms - the fact is you should read in depth about what you hope to accomplish before you begin. A little research before you start using a new utility will save you frustration later. I think that's true of most utility programs.
It does partition management to already formatted and partitioned drives. The typical use of disk partition software makes a disk ready to hold files. A disk needs to be addressed so it can hold files. A physical disk can be divided into 2 or more disks so you'll see C: and D: drives.
These drives can be organized to have all your documents on one - and the sytem on the other - or you can have 2 operating systems. There are different reasons for having Physical drives divided into "logical" drives (partitions)
This software does the operation on-the-fly. While your system is running - A pretty neat trick considering the computer is using the disk at the time you're changing it. So you can take your existing C: drive and change it while windows is installed. Merge existing logical drives, or divide up your C drive so you can organize stuff on a seperate drive located on the same physical drive. Keeping C: lean and storing all those huge media files on another area on the disk, for example, will help you organize for when you do back-ups and will improve performance of your computer.
I used this software to install a seperate operating system in which I can pick one at boot up. There are several things you can accomplish with this software - it's for disk management.
...using the second partition (ex: logical drive d:) on the same physical drive to back up data from c: is not a good plan because if the drive has a physical failure, you will lose the data on all partitions on that drive, both c: and D: - so research for your need - but grab this software today - it's a nice deal.
One thing to note - any time you use this software to make changes to a drive, that drive should be backed-up, or at least all important documents saved elsewhere - all partitioning software has occasion to chew up a few things it shouldn't - and it can make your data inaccessible. So a good back-up plan is always important.
I have compared the Home User Edition and the Professional and there is no real difference other than the fact that the Professional Edition can create a bootable CD. The fact that it is suitable for bussinesses doesn't add up any new features.
EASEUS makes awesome disk manager software - easily worth the full retail price which is $40 although it's on sale right now for $20
I've used this software in the past to do on-the-fly partition and boot management fot multiple OS's, and it worked flawlessly. If you check out the detials on the Partition Manager page, it does say it'll help you set up a dual boot system.

Habe es gleich mal auf meinem Windows XP getestet und Windows neu portioniert. Erfolgreich. Alles läuft noch und ich habe eine zusätzliche Portion. Für gratis wirklich gutes Programm das mir die Arbeit sehr erleichtert hat.

Anmerkung EASUS-Paragon
Wer schnell eine Festplatte für seine Bedürfnisse einteilen will und keine Lust oder Ahnung von Boot, Root, Swap oder Ähnlichen hat, für den ist EASUS optimal auf den "Rechner" geschneidert. Einfach, auch in "Englisch" verständlich im Programm, es gibt Bilder! Für Paragon-User gilt die alte Regel: Passt auf was ihr macht und seht zu, das kein Stromausfall eintritt! Mir passiert, alles im Arsch...

growlf, ist ne Macke von Windows 7, wenn du das Prog installiert hast, mit der Original-DVD ein Upgrade aus dem laufenden System installieren, dann funzt es. Dauert zwar etwas, aber für ein paar geschenkte € lohnt es sich auf jeden Fall!

Passte heute gut, das Prog., musste für eine Freundin einen Laptop einrichten mit installiertem XP. Partitionierung ging mit EASUS sehr schnell und ohne Probleme und ohne viele nervige Neustarts, wie z.B. bei Paragon (obwohl ich das immer noch für "das Tool ansicht") halte.
EASUS hatte ich auch schon in der Free-Version auf einen meiner Rechner
und für gut befunden. Both Thumps up today! Bitte jetzt Nichtenglischversteher: Keine Anfragen, was das heißt, sondern einfach Finger in den PoPo stecken, drehen und dann ab in den Mund, dann lernt man wenigstens mal Körpersprache,grins...

Aber kostenlos heißt nicht immer umsonst.
Wer es braucht - ok.
Aber wie immer heißt es kostenlos.
Es wird keiner gezwungen kostenlose Programme zu downloadenoder zu installieren. Ob diese schlecht sind oder nicht.
Also bitte nicht immer Daumen runter, oder das Programm a,b,c ist besser als Free/Shareware. Gebt den Programmierern doch mal eine Chance.
Wenn es gut ist wird es sich verkaufen lassen können oder auch nicht. Siehe Paragon: Gute Programme für lau. Gekauft habe ich das eine oder andere Proggi, weil es wert ist diesen Programmieren Arbeit zu geben und Sie zu motivieren weiter gute Programme zu schreiben (auch wenn sie Geld kosten).

Gibt viel Freestuff in dem Bereich, aber EASEUS umsonst ist den goldenen daumen wert. Sollte man immer auf CD haben, manchmal braucht man es tatsächlich. -Frißt ja kein Brot.

Erkennt wie schon Version 6 unter Win7 x64 meine SSD D:\ nicht (bzw. als unpartitionierten Bereich), obwohl baugleich mit C:\ (für das Betriebssystem) und laut Datenträgerverwaltung primäre Platte mit NTFS.

Moin, liebe Leute. Arbeite seit Jahren mit EASEUS Produkten, fast immer Freeware, bin begeistert von den kostenlosen Programmen. Dank auf diesem Weg für die Easeus Mannschaft für die problemlos laufende Software ab XP bis 7. Habe auch schon kostenpflichtige Programme dieser Art aber der ewige kostenplichtige Update geht mir meistens zu sehr an's Geld. EASEUS ist einfach fair.

Sehr schön. Recht brauchbares Programmm, wenn auch leider nicht ohne Macken.
Vielleicht gibt es ja endlich eine Final-Release-Version, die alle Formate fehlerfrei unterstützt.
Mittlerweile hab ich leider auch von diesem Programm schon eine ganze Sammlung (3.5, 4.0, 4.1.1, 5.0.1, 5.5.1, 6.0.1, 6.1.1, 6.5.1, 7.0.1 ...)
