Hi there,
I've been a pro photo seller for years. So, I tried this application, could install and register it without problem.
But, I couldn't find why it's better than a free one like Picasa with which you can organize, share, edit,apply dozens of effects and so forth.
If you don't like Picasa, then the freeware Xnview offers many and many features too, features that Daminion doesn't offer, sorry.

There was a problem with generating license for names with spaces. We fixed this issue. It works now.
Does DAMinon include automatic and structured controlled vocabulary and IPTC/XMP inclusion and sidecars, and does it import/export an XML database to other programs, and does it include automatic image analysis for recognizable things beyond existing EXIF and IPTC, but also automatic content and face recognition, can it automatically backup images locally or to the cloud, and track sales and use licensing, and keep track of where all copies of an image are, in print and as files?
Or do we have to label each picture one at a time, manually ... then do it all again later if we want to also or alternatively use Picasa or Adobe or Canto or PicturePark, or if the database won't run in Windows 9 or 10, or if we "touch" the image in another program, do we have to relabel the image again to re-include it in DAMinion?
How slow does it run to build an initial database, then how long does it take to audit or rebuild that data base on a regular schedule, and coordinate databases across multiple computers, such as when coming back from the field with a laptop full of new images, and does it store it's own thumbnails, or does it have to "see" a master picture in order to keep it in the catalog (such as keeping track of my archive of off-line CDs from Kodak)?

Yes and no to my questions ... but it's only at version 2, so it's quite young -- Microsoft Word is at version 14 and can't do most of that stuff for text documents!
I understand and honor DAMinion for their efforts - I see this as programmers working with a few clients who wanted a custom application, then maturing their offering to be more and more all-purpose in order to sell it to a wider audience ("hundreds" of customers).
But those are my goals -- maximum smart automation about image contents, along with lossless, recyclable metadata, backup, and distribution tracking.
So far, for me, on multiple computers with 20,000+ images, I do it manually using library science schemes to construct a reference system from the get go.
Picasa includes face recognition and whole-image manipulation tools, and can print really nicely, and can upload to free Picasa web or free Flickr in batches, properly resized (2048x) for the web site's free storage options, resulting in new JPG copies of any image file type; MyShoebox can automatically upload small JPG copies (1024x) of JPGs, unlimited, free.

Daminion allows you to put one image to multiple tags, which is not possible in case of the Folder based organization.
Daminion will be useful if you have a lot of photos and usually spent some time before finding a right photo.
Remember that "Pictures you can't find are JUST AS USELESS as pictures that are completely lost!"

habe Deinen Tipp befolgt und das Programm direkt vom Hersteller herunter geladen.
Das Ganze ging problemlos und schneller als bei GotD. Das Programm ist besser als ich erwartet habe.
Endlich eine schnelle Lösung schon beim runterladen von unseren beiden Dig-Cameras Ordung in alle Fotos zu bringen und nach Themen und chronologisch zu ordnen.
Für den der es braucht ein schönes kostenloses Programm.

@Jürgen: Ja, ok - aber wozu soll dies in einem Privathaushalt gut sein ? Da die SW "ausschliesslich für privaten Gebrauch" angeboten wird finde ich diese hier total fehl am Platz. Aber ich kann mich da nicht "hineinversetzen", da ich mit Fotos nichts am Hut habe (Zehntausende zwar gespeichert aber die jucken mich nicht die Bohne).

@soisses: Du hast den Sinn dieser Software nicht wirklich verstanden oder? Es geht um die Verwaltung grosser Fotomengen im lokalen Netzwerk. Das man die nicht mehr auf dem eigenen Rechner sondern auf einem zentralen Server speichert damit sie für alle zugänglich sind die sie benötigen, ist da selbstverständlich. Da NAS-Server auch im privat Bereich immer häufiger anzutreffen sind, ist es wohl logisch das man seine Daten (ob Fotos oder was auch immer) gegen Fremdzugriffe schützt. Es geht doch hier nicht um die Verwaltung von Cloudspeichern, dahingehend würde ich deine Argumentation glatt unterstützen, da man da ja nicht weis wo die Daten letzendlich landen und wie gut (oder überhaupt) sie gesichert sind...
Aber nun zum Programm :)
Also : Ich hab hier ne Fotosammlung vom benachbarten Fotostudio in Bearbeitung genommen (bisher so an die 12000 (da ist keine 0 zuviel ;) ) Fotos ) und versucht diese mithilfe des Programmes zu Kategorisieren und ordnen. Das ist mir auf Anhieb erstaunlich gut gelungen. Allerdings war die Zugriffsgeschwindigkeit auf die Fotoeigenschaften durchweg nur sehr langsam. T.w. hat es bis zu 5 Sek. pro Foto gedauert bis das Programm die EXIF Daten ausgelesen hatte. Das ist bei einer grösseren Menge an Fotos dann durchaus ein nennenswerter Nachteil :( Ich konnte diese Tatsache allerdings nicht genau lokalisieren, ich vermute das der verwendete NAS-Speicher da auch ein erkläcklich Teil zu beitrug. Alles in Allem habe ich das EInlesen der Daten nach etwa 1000 Fotos unterbrochen, das reichte mir für weitere Tests. Die eingelesenen Daten lassen sich allesamt verändern, es lässt sich danach suchen und sortieren. Das Programm stellt alles in einer übersichtlichen deutschsprachigen Oberflache dar. Bereits nach kurzer Einarbeitung kann man flüssig mit der Software arbeiten. Grobe Fehler oder offensichtliche Fehler in der Programmlogik konnte ich bisher nicht feststellen. Wie oben beschrieben habe ich nur Probleme beim Zugriff auf grosse Datenmengen und auslesen der EXIF Daten feststellen können, diese können aber auch an der lokalen Netzwerkstruktur liegen und möchte ich daher nicht ungesehen dem Programm ankreiden.
Alles in allem hat sich der Download hier gelohnt. Wer den GOTD (ja, ohne A ;) ) Installer scheut, kann sich die Downloadatei der aktuellen 2.0.0.911 er Version vom Hersteller beschaffen und über http://www.daminion.net/service/daminion-basic-special-action die Registrierungsdaten anfordern. Nach meinen bisherigen Erfahrungen werden hier keine unnötigen Werbe und Spammails versendet, scheint also ein seriöser Anbieter zu sein der die Daten nur zum Zwecke der Registrierung erhebt.
