"MXF" stands for "Material Exchange Format" which, from I barely understood is a universal format allowing transfer of audio and video files between diferent equipments, such as TV, camcoders, iPod, iPhone without the need for re-encoding (conversion).
Also, this format enables editing of audio or video files by any editing software irrespective of its nature.
Consequently, I intend to download and install this program because I may be able to use it to transfer videos on old video tapes to my laptop.

I do not find that this software can find a utility for mass but only for a narrow niche.

It's a "container" - in the same way AVI and MOV are "containers" - i.e. they are a basic format for storing audio/video and the metadata that tells the player or editor which codec to use.
This program copies or transcodes to other container formats, but it should be noted that the statement "TransMXF Pro supports almost all audio and video formats with zero quality loss" is misleading. Any transcoding (non-copy) operation involves quality loss unless it is to a lossless codec such as HuffYUV. So converting a MPG MXF to a Sorensen MOV will, by definition, result in quality loss.

MXF-Videos, ein 42,2 MB fetter Konverter für $45 - es reicht! Ein Nischentool, unverkäuflich, für den Normaluser sicher nicht zu gebrauchen. Nach der Vollpleite gestern folgt heute Teil 2 und morgen dann der nächste Flopp. Daumen runter und weiter geht es. Kein Dank!
