Installed and registered in a cumbersome registration method; thought the installation had hung at times, patience is needed.
On initial opening of a file thought it wasn't working as a preview was covering the listing of the files.
Recently had had problems viewing the contents of a RAR file in fact thought it was protected however, today's download had no problems with it.
The interface is very similar to many other programs of this type and will probably prove very useful, keeping it.
Note on registration.
After filling in the information in the webpage I received two e-mails, the first had a password in it which I don't believe I used anywhere, the second, a link which I followed.
The third e-mail as a result of following the link had the registration name and the registration code, the registration name wasn't used in my registration box as it filled in "giveaway."
After all this rigmarole I was finally registered and up and running.

Thanks for the detail - The last time this was offered I tried and tried to get it registered, but could never figure it out.
It did run, even though it eventually told me I had exceeded the 'trial' period.
Once the trial period expires you must wait for a 5 second timer to count down before you can use the archived files.
Update
It looks like it had used the previous information from the last time this was offered to register.
Just in case it was time-limited I decided to use the new information to reregister; I used the new username and serial number.
A dreadfully cumbersome registration procedure that needs considerable improvement.
Seems like a nice product and a keeper.
One problem: Although I have unchecked all file-types and the corresponding installation option, it still took over .zip and .7z. I really prefer to keep all my file associations while testing a product. This looks like a bug in the installation process.
Thumb up in spite of the above.
Power Archiver is too intrusive and overbearing, seems to want to “take over” the PC zipping function.
Do NOT allow it to associate itself to various compressed formats.
Not user friendly user interface.

Der Streit um das bessere Kompressionsformat ist für mich schon lange entschieden.
Es kann nur einen geben.
Für mich ist und war das neben dem guten alten ZIP und dem noch älteren LHA schon immer (Win)RAR.
Der Power-Archiver ist umständlich und weit entfernt von dem, was ich wirklich brauche. Ausserdem lassen sich die im programmeigenen Format erstellten Archive nur mit einem (kostenloser) Power-Archiver-Entpacker aufmachen, der wiederum nicht komprimieren kann. Also in meinen Augen ein echt unnötig aufgeblähtes und weitestgehend nutzloses kommerzielles Tool das ursprünglich von der Apple-Schiene kam - was eigentlich alles sagt.

Btw. endlich mal ein ordentliches Giveaway-of-the-Day! ... Klar gäbe es da etliche Alternativen (nicht zuletzt PowerArchiver in einer alten Freeware-Version, die man bei oldversion.com bekommt), aber diese Version ist doch schon ganz nett.
empfohlene Vorgehensweise als Tipp:
- ZIP Downloaden
- Readme lesen und sich beim Hersteller registrieren
- Installer nochmal vom Link aus der Registriermail runterladen (dann hat man auf jeden Fall die aktuellste Version!)
- Software installieren, Name und Key aus der Registriermail eingeben.
