Start Menu XP erstellt eine "Drop out"-Programmliste - genau wie in Windows XP. Dieses Feature erlaubt euch, den gesamten Bildschirmplatz zu benutzen und gewünschte Programme schneller zu finden.
Darüber hinaus könnt ihr Programme in "virtuelle Gruppen" (Office, Spiele usw.) einsortieren. Nach einer eventuellen Löschung einer Gruppe wird der Ordner ebenso verschwinden. You are entitled to your opinion ofcourse and so am I (Iguess you can agree with that). Your statement will only be a private opinion to me and others, even when yours might be shared with others, but the truth has to be supported by facts. None of your reaction were facts and so you can not claim any truth or factual reallity with your words (I would call it a matter of expression of personal taste).
Please grand me the arrogance to differ in opinion with you and enlighten you with my "truth". It might just be an eyeopener.
XP is by far the best product Microsoft made. But after most people wanting to have XP, already had it, they had to move on. That is great ofcourse especially when moving on means making improvements. No OS is perfect, so I would be in for that even though XP is still my OS of choice.
Vista is together with Win ME the biggest mistake ever made. The system only grew heavier and Microsoft was not ready yet to introduce Win 7. It was only an "in the middle we can sell anything" OS with lots of annoyances like the introduction of UAC.
Win 7 is a more mature product. Microsoft learned from their mistakes (like UAC became more flexible). They even planned to stop Vista support before XP-support (really lots of people like to go on working with XP even though there is Win 7 now). Fact: XP is still supported with security updates.
Microsoft started out by selling an OS with the most features neglecting security (something that didn't sell in the starting days) Missing features were quickly build in in the next releases (like the browser-wars), sometime by just buying the leading company that started that particular feature. This created a huge marked ofcourse.
Windows had it all, no need for something else, just have Windows, right? No more Amiga, C64, Atari.
From XP on they focussed on capacity (huge HDD, FAT32 and much later NTFS) and performance (multi-threading) to conquer the businessmarket aswell (bye bye IBM. But business ofcourse demanded security aswell.
They had to radically change a few things which would take some time.
To have something to sell, the sold the halfproduct Vista (which they like to forget like Win ME once).
Win7 was the product with featuers (home-market), capacity and performance (business-market) and security (by now everyone, because of all the accumulated threads on the internet, like malware and spam).
When Win7 is compared to XP (lets not talk about Vista anymore) you get lots more eyecandy (like aero, much better for selling, but you cannot really use it) and security aswell. But a large part of the added security is security for Microsoft and not for the homeuser. You are forced to do all kinds of genuine-microsft-test, activations etc.
To make it appear a much different (but really not much more advanced, except for the 64 bit-architectuers) product they rearranged (and renamed) also annoyingly everything in a not so meaningfull manner (the cause that todays giveaway has some future for some people that like XP like I do).
Win7 will have improved certain things ofcource, but to me it is merely a package of expensive bloat, hyped and crazed up by the "look at me"-show-offs.
Well it's just my opinion ofcourse, nothing to factual, but at least this proves there is another world of taste and opinion then yours. You've got te deal with that, hang on and keep a stiff upperlip now.
@Keith Alston XP is far from dead. First it's going to be supported till 2015, second many businesses still use it because of custom programs that only work in XP. Third I still have people ask me to help them load XP on their new laptop. & Finally Many still like the "Look" of XP over "Aero".
Kudos to "OrdinarySoft" for making this app! If Microsoft was smart they would make more "XP Themes" to get more people off of XP and onto 7...

And (I take this opportunity to forward) A MESSAGE TO ALL DEVELOPERS: Please understand that the fact that you literally hijack the activity of the users who install your programs and force their browsers to open your webpage at the end of the installation it is perceived as a VERY NEGATIVE fact!
I sincerely hope that other members who share my point of view will also express their opinion in this or future threads in order TO HELP DEVELOPERS UNDERSTAND that we (the users) would really prefer to visit (the developers) websites at our convenience and NOT at theirs!
Do a search for "Classic Shell". It's a free project and does everything you could ever want your start menu to do in Windows 7. It's much more developed than this program. Has drag and drop, delete, rename, open all users etc. Just like a proper start menu.

XP is far from dead & gone, IT'S STILL SUPPORTED and the preferred OS for many people. Vista was a big step nowhere and the biggest abortion since windows ME, I feel sorry for the people stuck having to use it. The only thing I agree with you is about windows 7, I love the new UI and refuse to step backwards....

Ich freue mich immer, wenn auch kritische Stimmen zu Wort kommen. Danke. Ich brauches dieses Tool wirklich nicht. Auch keinen Screensaver, keine Bildertools, keinen Konverter und kein Minibrennprogramm... Etc. Etc.
Gibt es auch mal wieder etwas Neues und überraschend Gutes als Programm für Windows 7? Bitte bitte...

Seit nunmehr fast 2 Jahrzehnten muss sich der geneigte Windows-Nutzer mit jeder neuen Version von Windows mit neuen optischen Erweiterungen herumschlagen. Besonders erschwerend ist hier die Anordnung des Windows Startmenüs zu erwähnen, die von Version zu Version immer anders aussieht. Bisher gab es dafür keine Abhilfe. Aber dank diesem großartigen glänzenden Juwel der Programmierkunst, ist es jetzt endlich möglich, sein Lieblingsstartmenü aus Windows 3.1 oder Windows 95 verlustlos auf aktuellere Windows Version zu übernehmen. Wer hätte das gedacht, das dieses möglich ist. Fragt sich nur, warum nicht auch Microsoft schon lange diese tolle Funktionalität in Windows integriert hat und den Benutzer stattdessen immer mit neuen Verbesserungen quält. Jüngstes Beispiel in Windows 7 die verschiebbaren Programmtabs. Wer soll sich damit auskennen?
Icho wünsche mir, dass derartige ürofessionelle und hilfreiche Programme öfter hier angeboten würden. Dieses Programm bekommt von mir eine Bestnote. Endlich sieht Windows wieder so aus, wie ich es will. Einfach Großartig!

habe zwar Style-Elemente aus Vista/7 übernommen, aber XP-Style für Vista/7 ... ??? Bleibt doch trotzdem Vista/7.
Solange ich mit 4 GB-Ram (weiß schon 3,2) das Auslangen finde (benötige bei max. Auslastung gerade mal die Hälfte) ...also wozu?

Ich war vor einiger Zeit auf der Suche nach einem Ersatz für das Win 7 Startmenü. Grund ein neu angeschafftes Netbook mit Win 7 Starter. Da ich auf anderen Rechnern XP pro nutze wollte ich eine halbwegs optische und händische Angleichung. Unter anderem bin ich auch bei dem hier parallel beworbenen Programm "Start Menu 7" gelandet. Hab es verworfen, da es recht unübersichtlich einzurichten ist, eine ganze Menge Ressourcen frisst. Das heute gebotene Programm mag ich nicht einschäatzen, bewerte es auch nicht. Aber hier ein Hinweis fuer diejenigen, die Alternativen suchen.

Läuft auf meinem Netbook ohne irgendwelchen grafischen Schnickschnack. Gibt mir das Feeling meiner anderen Rechner. Gewohnheitsmensch eben .. ;-)

Why i should use this tool? I can´t see the benefit for me. The style and the possibilities of Windows 7 is perfect for me. You should offer really useful programms and tools. Last weeks I did not download one from you. Converter, small burning tools... Better are a lot of free software programs as youres. It makes me really tired of you, sorry.
Warum soll solch ein Tool nützlich sein? Ich sehe keinen Vorteil darin. DAs, was Windows 7 bietet ist auf die Bedürfnisse des Benutzers optimiert. Hier kann ich auch anpassen. Sie sollten wirklich Nützliches anbieten, nicht ständig Konverter, Bildprogramme und kleinere Brenntools, die entweder jeder schon hat oder die besser als Freeware angeboten werden. Ich bin langsam schon müde, Ihren Newsletter noch zu öffnen. Zumal man die Programme alle nur einmalig installieren kann. Freeware dagegen bekomme ich als exe-Datei, die ich wiederverwenden kann. Schade.

Normalerweise installiere ich ja solche Tools ja nicht, aber da ich das Vista/7 Startmenü wirklich als Rückschritt empfinde, habe ich es einmal getestet:
Das Programm muss ständig im Hintergrund laufen (7MB RAM) aber funktioniert wie beschrieben.
Negativ:
- Drag&Drop funktioniert im Menü nicht mehr
- Alle Einträge werden leider immer alphabetisch sortiert (nur die "Groups"(=unterste Ebene) kann man beliebig sortieren)
- In den Groups kann man nur Ordner oder Links einfügen, die direkt auf unterster Ebene des Startmenüs liegen: Um die Groups-Funktion sinnvoll zu nutzen, müsste man sich die alte Ordnerstruktur zerschießen und alle wichtigen Programme aus ihren ursprünglichen Unterverzeichnissen herausverfrachten.
Fazit: Besser als Vista/7 aber deutlich verbesserungsfähig

Eigentlich ein völlig Sinnfreies Programmchien, das nicht weiter macht als das was Windows ohnehin bereits kann. Wer schon darauf gekommen ist im Startmenue eigene Ordner mit den Namen Office, System, Tools oder Multimedia anzulegen, kann sich den Download eines 20USD teueren Tools sparen.

Ich finde dieses Tool heute für überflüssig. Man kann mit einem rechtsklick auf die Taskleitse die Eigenschaften anklicken. Dort geht man auf Startmenü und klickt auf "klassisches Startmenü". Schon hat man den selben Effekt.
