we have contacted the Developer regarding AVG reaction on the latest version of the Picture Downloader installer. According to virustotal.com there was not any problem yesterday, but things have changed over night.

AVG reported this process contained a Trojan -- SHeur3.CHKN (within PD.exe).
Was this not tested for compatibility with popular AV products?
Anyway, I didn't progress and de-installed.
There are so many browser extensions or add-ons that do the same, but for free, that it is very hard to see what is the market for such a product, and on what is based its ridiculous price of $29.
I'm definitely downloading and using this one! I do a lot of time and bandwidth downloading tons of royalty-free "stock" images and videos for use in the websites I put together for my clients (mostly "lead-capture pages"). Anything that streamlines the process is always welcome - provided it's not difficult to learn how to use, and performs "as advertised."
If it really trips my trigger I'll come back and post a review, one way or the other.
I'd like to offer a warning for anyone considering the use of this software to download images that they intend to "re-purpose" by using those images in their own websites, whether those websites are "commercial" in nature or not...
Make certain that you have the rights to "re-use" those images you download for this purpose! Just because you can see an image in your browser, and can download it, doesn't necessarily mean that you automatically have the right to use it for anything you want to use it for! Most website owners retain copyright on the entire content of their sites, and that includes any and all original images they may contain.
(And you can be reasonably certain that any and all non-original images used on those commercial websites are either "royalty-free," or the rights to use those images were obtained by the site owner and/or webmaster.)
If you use someone else's original image without their express (and not just implied) permission, you could find yourself in some very unpleasant legal trouble, which could end up costing you very dearly - including (but not limited to) civil and criminal penalties, shutdown of your website, and even a few other nasty things that most sane and rational people would usually make every effort to avoid, if at all possible.
(However, I've "lurked" the comments here at GOTD for long enough - and have read enough comments form people who seem to have some sort of "entitlement complex" - to realize that not everyone who visits GOTD is necessarily sane nor rational, at least not in this regard.)
Besides (and this is specifically addressed to #3-Harrym)- don't graphics artists and photographers have a right to be paid for their work too? (And if you don't think it's "real" work, then I suggest that you just try creating some "buy now" buttons and/or some "professional-looking" website header graphics on your own! If the software is overpriced, it won't sell - that's what's so great about the Free Market System.
And let's face it, if someone is able create their own website graphics and images, they wouldn't really have any real use for a software like today's offering anyway - would they?
As I implied in my warning above, this software could be used by some unscrupulous people to "scrape" graphics from websites, and illegally use them on their own sites or print publications. However, in the case of "royalty-free" images and videos (often referred to as PLR - "Private Label Rights"), there are repositories of large numbers of images and videos, and downloading them all - one at a time - can be quite tedious, with a lot of time wasted if not outright lost!
Well, I tried it and there have been better ones offered here like Extreme Pic Finder. I tried the one offered here today and after going through the wizard and fixing how I wanted the pics and size, I received itty bitty pics for my trouble. Not being one to give up easy, I tried it again only to receive error message : Picture Downloader has encountered a problem and needs to close, save your work. I will try a few more times then, I will be uninstalling this program. Thanks anyway GOTD!

Die besten Zeiten für Bilder-Sammler sind sowieso vorbei.
Das FBI und andere Behörden sorgen dafür, dass sehr viele Internetseiten gelöscht sind, also heute nicht mehr erreichbar sind.
ein Beispiel:

...massenweise Fotos sogenannte TGP (Thumb Gallerie Pictures) lagen dort, die Webseite gibt es heute nicht mehr, weil die Zensur hart durchgreift heutzutage.
Auch One-Klick-Hoster wie Hotfile+Rapidshare löschen das Zeug einfach, was ihnen suspekt vorkommt.
Sogar das Usenet bleibt nicht verschont, dieser elitäre Bereich des Internet muss schmerzilch erleben, wie zahlreiche Binary-Gruppen ohne wenn und aber einfach geschlossen werden.
So ist das eben 2011, was dahintersteckt, weiss ich nicht 100%ig, ich habe da allerdings so meine Vermutungen.

WinHTTRack ist sicher kein schlechtes Programm - aber grauenhaft zu bedienen. Dann lieber Teleport Pro, Webspider o.ä.
Aber z.B. bei einem endlosen Wallpaper-Index-Directory nur die passende Auflösung von z.B. 1920 x 1080 rauszusuchen und runterzuladen - das kann dieses von euch so geschmähte Programm. Das mach man mit WinHTTrack...

und da bist du wohl noch stolz drauf bei jeden Fehlalarm gleich zu löschen, statt dich erst mal zu informieren. Auf der US-Seite steht z.B.:

Ein tool so unnötig wie ein Blinddarmdurchbruch in der Südweststeiermark in der Ostersonntagnacht. Dafür Daumen runter und hoffen, dass es am Wochenende wieder schöne Converter, Recorder und Bildschirmschoner von namhaften deutschen Firmen gibt.

Ich habe das Programm gerade wieder deinstalliert, nachdem mein Antivirenprogramm (AVG) einen Trojaner in der Datei PD.exe vermeldete. Ich habe mir leider den Namen des Trojaners nicht notiert, aber für heute bin ich erst einmal bedient ... (obwohl ich die Bedrohung zum Glück beseitigen konnte)

Also, liebe Leute, auch wenn man nicht an Pornosammlungen interessiert ist, ist das Teil ganz nützlich.
Man kann es nämlich durchaus als Spidersoftware für eigene Dateitypen einsetzen, keineswegs nur Bilder.
Und da sind Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten vorhanden, die andere Programme aus dem Freewarebereich eben nicht bieten. ALso ich finde das Teil nicht schlecht.

Traurig sind diejenigen die nur unverschämt rummaulen,hier alles schlecht machen aber morgen hier wieder vorbeischauen ob es etwas umsonst gibt! XD Programm problemlos installiert,registriert.Durchaus nützlich wenn man weis es privat einzusetzen.Für die vom Hersteller genannten Berufe aber wohl eher nicht zu gebrauchen.Thx,

Das Programm ist natürlich nur etwas für intelligente User, die genug Fantasie oder krimminelle Energie haben, um die fantastischen Möglichkeiten auszuschöpfen, also nichts für Dorftrotteltrolls.
Das Programm arbeitet sehr gut bei Seiten mit Minibildern die zu den Originalen verlinkt sind. Danke GOTD für dieses viel Zeit sparende Tool!

In keinem der genannten Berufe sammelt man Bilder im Web. Warum der Hersteller also nicht einfach sagt, wofür es da ist, nämlich um möglichst komfortabel Pr0n zu sammeln! Nur kommt er damit etwas zu spät, denn wer sammelt in Zeiten von Youpr0n, HD-Movies und fetten Bandbreiten denn noch Pr0n-Pix in solchen Mengen, dass er dafür spezielle Software braucht? Oder irre ich? Na wir werden ja sehen, wieviele hier schreiben werden, dass sie das Tool super finden. :)
