Well, I used the FREE version of this program a few weeks ago and I was favourably impressed by its performance.
So I guess that the PRO version, namely this GAOTD, is even better, although even the FREE version supports the creation of a bootable CD or USB disk to recover data in case Windows doesn't boot up anymore (==> 62 MB in size only).

I'm not sure what is going on here but, according to the comparison page on the publisher's web site, the only difference between their free Home edition and their ($39, on sale for $18), Professional edition is the license and the DL size (62 MB vs 108 MB). The feature set for the home and pro editions are identical. Perhaps the Pro edition just includes more utilities for inclusion on the boot disk . However, again the web site offers no clues as to what is on even the home edition let alone the pro edition. Since the file recovery app itself is only about 6 MB, the rest is probably utils and apps for the boot CD. It would be nice to know what they are.
One important point to note is that, according to the Lazesoft web site, their boot disk is Windows PE based rather than the usual Linux base. This could be a huge benefit, especially if one can rebuild the image with custom apps. Since the 62MB freeware Home edition includes the same Win PE boot CD builder as the 114 MB GAOTD Pro edition, the better strategy would seem to be to DL and install the smaller freeware version and not have to be concerned with registration hassles.
For straight file recovery file recovery Recuva (4 MB), Pandora (3 MB, Easeus (4 MB) or Disk Digger (> 1 MB) are all freeware and are much smaller. Here is a results summary of tests on them that I did a year and a half ago:
Disk Digger found all but one of 295 deleted pictures, had the easiest interface, fast surface scan, good preview although slow, clear display of media, file type selection & actions. Recovered file names include media sector number.
Pandora missed two files but otherwise had identical results as Disk Digger. Its interface is somewhat obtuse. Preview hard to find and limited choices. Recovered file names include media cluster number.
Easeus found all possible deleted pics, has a good wizard and can operate on auto drive and has many recovery options. Raw recovered files are named sequentially. It was the only app to find and recover and reconstruct a deleted folder although the files were the same as were found in the surface scan.
Recuva missed six files (four due to a simple bug in its search algorithm which hopefully has been fixed by now), the file lengths were consistently longer (included extra bytes not in original file), good wizard with lots of hand holding. Raw recovered files are named sequentially.
Davory found all the files but in trial mode only recovers the first 200K bytes of each file but it was the most accurate in identifying and recovering erased files. the first 200 KB did however, include both the thumbnails and Exif data. The original files ranged from 1.6 MB to 2.9 MB. Davory is published by the same company that publishes WinHex, one of the best forensic disk editors around.

I used HxD [http://mh-nexus.de/hxd/], a wonderful freeware file and disk Hex editor, to examine and analyze the flash card to make sure I found all the files. It has a very clean and simple GUI, is fast and is full functioned.
Yes, it is bigger than other data recovery software. It contains components to burn Bootable Data Recovery CD/USB disk.
As I understand the size of this tool is partly due to the Win PE and Linux based recovery CD tools included. It is not just a file recovery program like "recuva" from Pirisoft. It is for more serious cases when the system cannot boot.
It creates bootable CDs either Windows 32bits, 64bits tools or Linux based.

Es sollte jeder selbst entscheiden dürfen, was es sich auf seine Kiste läd. Auch ein Virenscanner und eine Firewall sind keine Pflicht. Wem Freeware zu anspruchslos, ordentliche Software zu teuer ist, kann doch einfach die amerikanischen Warenproben installieren. Was er sich sonst noch für Beigaben einfängt, ist doch jedem sein eigenes Problem. Freut euch über die täglichen "Geschenke" und gut ist!

Ich konnte damit jetzt auf einer gelöschten Partition, wodrüber ich dann das System neu aufgesetzt hatte, eine dabei übersehene Datei wiederfinden, was mir zuvor nur mit einem einzigen der üblicherweise hoch gepriesenenen Datenwiederherstellungsprogramme gelungen war (Recuva konnte das NICHT!)
Daß die Daten darinnen z.T. bereits überschrieben waren, zeugt eher von der zuverlässigen Suche des Programms, wo andere insoweit beschädigte Dateien schon gleich "überspringen".
Daher werde ich es auf jeden Fall behalten.
Und ob man GOTD vertraut, sollte man schon wissen.
Wer Zweifel hat, sollte wenigstens auf Max (#6 ^^) mal hören, der es sehr schön beschrieben hat.

Das Themida-Programm installiert sich permanent tief im Betriebssystem (auf Kernel-Niveau) und lässt sich kaum wieder vollständig entfernen!
Aber das Programm gibt's ohnehin gratis (für nicht-kommerzielle Anwendung) vom Hersteller, also warum diese suspekte GAOTD-Version downloaden...?

@Recoveryalternativen: Recuva ist eine Alternative. Die Software stammt von den Machern des CCleaner. Beide Tools belegen in den CHIP-Download-Charts jeweils Platz 1 in ihrer Kategorie. Die Glary Utilities haben eine solche Funktion bereits integriert.

Gegenprobe mit AVG und Watchguard auf meinem System: Kein Alarm, Kein Datentransfer! Gegenprobe mit Norton auf dem Kinder-PC: kein Alarm.
Zugegeben, ich bin nur ein Halbintelligenzler und damit wohl zu blöde, mein System entsprechend richtig zu konfigurieren. Schade, dass ich deshalb euere Schadensmeldungen auf meinem System einfach nicht nachvollziehen kann, egal wie sehr ich mich auch um einen Virenbefall und TrojanerRitt bemühe.

Ja du schreibst wie immer trollunsinn. Das Programm ist wie alle Programme von GOTD themidafreie. Themida wird nur als Hilfsprogramm bei der Installation benutzt und verschwindet dann wieder spurlos.
Ob ein Programm groß oder klein ist, hat was mit seiner Arbeitsweise zu tun und nur die und das Ergebniss zählen!

Auch dieser Download ist auch wieder durch Schadsoftware verseucht.
Mein (zugegebenermaßen scharf eingestelltes AVG) Virenschutzprogramm schlägt Alarm, meine Hardwarefirewall (Watchguard) schlägt Alarm und loggt kleine Datenpakete (54 bis 108 KB) über Port 12345 !!!! bei jedem erneuten Systemstart an 6 verschiedene IP Adressen (alle in den USA) jeweils ab 2m30s nach dem Systemstart und dann alle 120 Sekunden erneut.
Gegenprobe mit einem sauberen System: Kein Alarm, kein Datentransfer !
Mein Tipp: Finger weg !

Kurze Erläuterung zur Schädlichkeit der hier angebotenen Software.
In der Vergangenheit konnte man das eigentliche Programm im TMP-Ordner abgreifen und kam so zu einer jeder Zeit installierbaren Version. Das widersprach aber dem Ziel dieser Seite, nämlich nur für einen Tag das Programm anzubieten um die User zum Kauf bei Interesse zu bewegen.
Die "GAOTD-Leute" haben nun eine neue, schwer "knackbare" Variante für den Download entwickelt. Nun wird der Download im TMP-Ordner in 2 Dateien ausgepackt, welche zu einem geschütztem Inno-Setup gehören. Zusätzlich wurde das Ganze mit der Sicherheits-pack-software von Themida (welche in der Vergangenheit leider auch von Hackern mißbraucht wurde)geschützt.
Das ist etwa vergleichbar, als wenn Hacker Winrar oder Winzip für ihre Viren nutzen würden(was auch getan wurde aber im Wesentl. nicht mehr aufgrund der Bekanntheit/Erkennung praktiziert wird). Die Software von Themida selbst ist unbedenklich und wird nun auch für die GAOTD-Software verwendet.
Der gesamte Download ist virenfrei und es existieren auch keine Schädlinge, welche sich im Hintergrund mit dem Internet verbinden wollen!
Das ärgert vor allem die Softwaresammler und Script Kiddies, denn nun ist das Programm nicht mehr einfach nur abgreifbar. Wenn die Demo nicht nutzbar ist, sind die Möglichkeiten für die Masse geringer zu einem ungeschüzten Programm von GAOTD zu kommen.
Also bitte lassen Sie sich keinen Bären aufbinden. Das "Virengeschwafel" kommt übrigens von unserem langjährigen Forentroll, welcher sich immer noch gern in seiner schizophrenen Masche täglich hier mehrfach produziert.

Komisch, bei mir (Deleted File Recovery unter Win 7 x64)findet das Programm nur Dateien, die garnicht gelöscht wurden und noch vorhanden sind. Was soll man denn damit wiederherstellen?

Super, wieder ein dicker (114 MB) englischer Mops zur Data Recovery. Dafür gibt es themidafreie, deutsche Programme, die keine 6 MB groß sind und ihre Arbeit verständlich und zuverlässig verrichten - Lazesoft, lass es liegen.
