I use excel sheets to manage my expenses and budgets. Since I'm not in the US/Canada, that was the only practical option for me. But working with Excel sheets is not easy. So I recommend this online app.
This service only supports budget management, so if you want to manage your loans, 401k, IRAs... this may not be the right tool. But for budget and saving account management, I started to use this.
This tool is separated into 4 parts: Overview, Income, Expenses, and Budget. You define your income streams, as well as expenses. and it calculates how much monthly quota you have to meet your defined budget goal(s).
So far these are the pros and cons of the tool:
- Security:
No Two-Step password Security: I noticed no extra security for logging in, I suggest they enforce the security as no one wants their financial details to be publicly accessible. Hence, I still trust my offline Excel files more.
I suggest encrypting client data on their server as well if it is not already encrypted.
- Budget per month only: It only supports budget management per month, could be wrong but there is no weekly or yearly option. But TMO monthly budgeting is the most important option and it has that.
- With this tool, you can manually add/remove and edit Income and Expenses amounts. To my surprise, you can only add complete numbers (1,2,3...) and it does not let you add fractions (1.2, 2.5,... ) apparently. So you're forced to round the numbers.
- You can add different account types and define categories for your expenses
- It would be good to add a description per expense, I noticed you can only add title, and no additional description details
- it does not show how much currency left in the account, you have to manually calculate it everytime you set your period of time. For example, if you want to know the overall (not monthly) remaining amount of your money, you first have to define the period from day 1 to today. Then you have to look at the numbers, bring a calculator, and calculate the remaining amount.
- It shows you how much money you can spend in % as well as in the unit of currency you use
- It shows you the graph of expenses and income details
- It has a simple and easy UI to work with
- It has an option to export your expenses and income details as PDF, Excel, and more.
- It has pie-charts per budget categories
- Supports EURO as well as USD but since it does not calculate interest rates, I don't think it is a big deal.
I suggest adding interest rate support, debt support, mortgage and loan calculators as well as ROR calculation supports. Overall I'm satisfied with managing my budgets with it. It is just easier and nicer to work with than an excel sheet.

Dan,
You are absolutely right.
1) I would not trust any online service with my financial and personal data, that too, an unknown company. Even the largest companies and Gov have been hacked.
2) The kind of simple things they offer, YOU CAN DO yourself with Spreadsheet and other tools available for free, WITHOUT giving your data to such sites.
3) Budget, Finance, interest, ROI etc. are NOT complicated. You learned these, and basic concepts in High School. YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF. Give it a try.
Let us become financially literate.
Good Luck.
