I like really like this giveaway!
I got an earlier giveaway - and since than it is my most used converter for TV recordings hat I want to keep for my movie collection and soon learned to love this tool.
For sure there are some faster, some more elaborated etc. alternatives...
BUT this one gives me a relative easy possibility to control almost any parameters that I like to juggle with.
1.) Indeed it is (mainly) "just" a front-end for the (free!) ffmpeg.exe , but with MUCH more convenience than the mere command-line tool.
2.) NOR - I don´t´know whether it handles 4K/UHD (I just have a Full HD TV and do not need computer hardware for UHD either...)
3.) The program´s ability to save own profiles are sufficient for me and profiles are easy to load (e.g. I did only save 4 Profiles which just adopt and I fine tune if needed for a conversion task !)
THE MOST IMPORTANT FFMPEG PARAMETERS and their MEANING:
- Video "SIZE"
... matters(...!) for the output size: HD (1280x720) might be enough for some videos...
- "ConstantRateFactor" (0-51)
... says how fine (grained) the quality will be; MY experience is: often "23" is sufficient quality (and is sufficient fast in conversion!) you will see more and more artefacts if using higher values. For visual really good results try "18", for good and even better results experiment with "21" -"19".
keep in mind: the lower the value the bigger the resulting file will become!
- "Preset" (ultrafast,superfast,veryfast,faster,fast,medium,slow,slowest)
...the ACCURACY of the images is NOT influenced by this, but it results in better compression (as known by e.g. with packers, like zip or 7zip etc.)" - at the cost of time...: but the film will get smaller. (I found and suggest "Veryfast", which gives the best ratio for Size/time!)
- "Tune" (Auto,Film,Animation,Grain,Stilimage,Psnr,Ssim,Fastdecode,zerolatency)
... are referring to the input material; "Auto" is regular a good choice (but sometimes...: watch input material..!)
- "Rate" (Auto,60,50,30,29,7...)
... My advice; in most cases leave it at "Auto" - there is not(or almost no) gain in size while reducing the rate.
BTW: I found, the old giveaway key just worked for all updates since Version 6 up to this current version

What a pity that the developer is not present to explain and answer questions. We have seen from others that want to market their software through Giveaway, that they are present and communicate. That is more trustworthy as I see it.
I have several video editors. The reason I have all of them is, each one has it's pro's and con's to them. iDealshare VideoGo is at the top of my list. It's the fastest for editing and converting videos. It has a lot of custom settings to use for one video or a batch of them. No big learning curve, with a clean user friendly inter-face. If you do any video editing at all, download this one. Thanks to GOTD and idealshare for the offering!
Installs easily, with minimum off fuss and no complicated way to get the registration info.
This an application that has pieces cobbled together from other offerings.
There multi core support but no mention of GPU acceleration, which is evident in the slow conversion process.
Basically it offers nothing that has not been seen before and misses out on key aspects that for me, makes it not worth considering and in a very very crowded market sector, including free offerings that do more, $49.99 is way overpriced.

Ich mag und nutze es seit der ersten Giveaway-Aktion (ich glaube, Version 5.9 ?!)
Hier einige hoffentlich nützliche Erfahrunge/Tipps:
1) "Videogröße" (diverse Formate, Format-Größe auch frei wählbar!)

DIE "Videogröße" (oder "AUFLÖSUNG" Z.B. HD: 1280*720, FullHD: 1920*1080, etc.),
BESTIMMT SEHR STARK die Größe der Zieldatei! Sie sollte entweder (z.B. für
UNIVERSELLE ZWECKE - also auch für größere Fernseher...) auf mindestens HD
gesetzt werden - NIEMALS jedoch HÖHER als die des Ausgangsmaterials!
Für Tablets, Handys etc. kann natürlich für kleinere Filmdateien und
schnellere Konvertierung eine viel kleinere Größe gewählt werden...!
ANSONSTEN ABER BESTIMMEN VOR ALLEM DIE FOLGEND BESCHRIEBENEN PARAMETER
DIE QUALITÄT UND GRÖßE DES KONVERTIERTEN FILMMATERIALS :
2) "ConstantRateFactor" (0-51)

Dieser Parameter bestimmt die Qualität (Feinheit vs. Klötzchenbildung)!
Je höher die Werte, DESTO MEHR "KLÖTZCHEN"bildung, also weniger Detailreiche
Bilder im konvertierten Film. Durch höhere Werte wird der Film aber natürlich
zugleich auch deutlich kleiner...
Folgen dieses Parameters:
0 Lossless (Änderungen sind NICHT sichtbar)
17-18 VISUELL NOCH Lossless (nicht bis kaum wahrnehmbare Änderungen)
20-23 Noch sehr gute bis sehr akzeptable Ergebnisse (je nach Film-Material)
51 Klötzchenbildung beherrschen das Bild...
"23" EMPFEHLE ich als Standard! Für Naturfilme und für besonderes Filmmaterial
bieten sich aber auch Werte wie 18 oder u.U sogar noch kleiner an!

DIE DETAILGENAUIOGKEIT DER BILDER WIRD NICHT DAVON BEEINFLUßT, BESSERE
KOMPRESSION MACHT EINFACH NUR DEN ZIEL-FILM NOCH KLEINER !
Dieser Parameter bestimmt nämlich NUR die Kompression - aber damit auch
DIE GESCHWINDIGKEIT DER KONVERTIERUNG! Denn wie bei Packern (zip, 7z, etc.)
steigt der Aufwand exponentiell, wenn die Kompression durch verschiedene
Berechnungen immer weiter verbessert werden soll!

ANMERKUNG:
Interessanterweise bietet der Parameter "Veryfast" nicht nur ein
Optimales Verhältnis von Zeit zu Größe, sondern erzeugt i.d.Regel
sogar die zweitkleinste Dateigröße bei nur wenig mehr an Zeitaufwand!
4) "Tune" (Auto,Film,Animation,Grain,Stilimage,Psnr,Ssim,Fastdecode,zerolatency)

Dieser Parameter beziehen sich v.a. auf das filmische Ausgansmaterial, auf
dessen Zustand oder Eigenschaften. Der Parameter kann i.d.Regel auf "Auto"
oder "Film" gestellt bleiben/sein.
WICHTIGE AUSNAHMEN SIND:
-> "Grain" für "körniges", altes (vor allem SEHR ALTES) Filmmaterial,
-> "Stillimage" für Präsentationen oder/und nur oder überwiegend STATISCHE BILDER,
-> "Animation": Film mit weniger Farben, weniger übergängen, vielen flächigen Farben!
5) "Bildrate" (Auto,60,50,30,29,7...)

Diese sollte i.d.Regel auf AUTO stehen und NICHT geändert werden: Selbst bei
Ausgansmaterial mit 50 oder 60 Bilder/sec. lohnt i.d.Regel KEINE Reduktion auf
z.B. 29,7 bzw 25 Bilder/sec: Die Konvertierung wird dadurch langamer und spart
meist kaum oder keine Größe ein...
