Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.2 Pro 64 bit system.

A small not resizable window opens. This is “really” a flash drive recovery program. It will not detect any other drive, than a flash drive…
The internal frecover.exe version is 2.0.0.0.

I was only interested, if anything has changed, making my old comment obsolete.
I first scanned an 8 GB USB stick (flash drive) formatted FAT32. Have a look, what it found...

The drive is full of old, deleted and new data...
A second test with fresh "quick" formatted 8 GB Drive. There have been 8 GB programs and data on the drive.
The software didn't find anything (as in my previous test).

Read my old review. At least it did not crash anymore in my short test... Still unusable.

Not to replace this program, but as an adjunct to it - If you use any sort of USB flash memory, you really should have the HP USB disk storage format tool. For years it has been the leader in formatting "stuck" flash memory.
No file recovery program can recover anything from a card that cannot be read, so you run the HP program first and then recover as much as you can with a file recovery program such as today's offering.
The latest version does not seem to be hosted by HP anymore, but is available from Google drive:

That seemed a bit strange, so I ran the URL past virustotal:

Which gave it a clean bill of health, so I downloaded the latest version myself, as I only had version 2.1.8a and then ran the downloaded version past virustotal as well, again it came up clean:

I have used the HP tool five times in the past on USB cards that could not be read, written to, or formatted by Windows. On three of those occasions I was able to get the card back and recover the files from it. Twice the card still remained "stuck" though, so it does not always work, but has worked enough in the past for me to always try the HP software before considering the files lost forever.

I had more luck: the second and third time I started the program, it was still registered.
Also there was a thanks from "flash drive recovery".

The recovered files will be placed in 1 map and other files with the same name will be overwritten.
3 files with the name "info.txt" will become 1 file.
Installed and registered without any problems, that is good as it got, it found my flash drive but when it came to the selection to search for it crashed with a runtime error. Could easily be my system as this install is approaching five years old and becoming cantankerous.
Thanks to #3 TeeK all is not lost as I downloaded his HP format program.

Hardware dependend registration? For this piece of Beta-Scrap?
Better spend time in programming the program not in programming the copy protection. Great Sh*t! There are at least 3 dozen programs on the market that does it better, some of them freeware and open source.

Gut, dass ich alle meine Portables noch aufbewahrt habe, auch die alten, die funktioniren auch noch. Eine Neuauflage dea ••FastPictureViewer Pro•• wäre nicht übel, war mal ein Giveaway etwa im Jahr 2012 hier. So manche neuere Besucher hier würden sich eventuell freuen darüber.

Schade,nichts Neues! Ich bin jetzt ca. 1 Jahr dabei und stelle fest es wiederholt sich zu 98% Ich habe auch schon von dem einen oder anderen Anbieter Software gekauft Dank GOTD.
Leider werden immer häufigere Programme mit einer eingeschränkten b.z.w. befristet Laufzeit angeboten.
Darum schaue ich immer seltener hier vorbei, zumal viel andere wie PC Welt zum beispiel das selbe anbieten und auch auf einige weitere Web seiten findet man das gleiche.
Z.B. ein weiter Konvertiere nur von einem anderen Hersteller ist nichts neues. Aber am uninteressantesten sind für Mich die Handy Tools, warum hier?
