This is a very simple program to use, and it has some nice effects you can add to existing pictures. But it's nowhere near a tool to make your own animations. For example, there's no way to add a motion path for objects. The Help is minimal, to say the least! It's really more of a template to add the pre-packaged animations, such as the ones being sold in the extension packages.

FWIW DesktopPaints.com apps aren't your traditional animation software, where you move objects & the program generates the 'tween frames/images -- instead they apply image FX to an imported still image using DirectX. Some folks may remember a few years back when the same sort of thing was popular using Java on web pages [JavaFile.com is one of the 1st hits when you Google: java image fx]. In the plus column adding animation is quicker using their apps like DP Animation Maker because you don't add motion paths or anything -- in the negative column you're more limited on what you can do, & it does take some graphics horsepower to display the results. The 1st time I saw their Animated Wallpaper Maker I was thrilled, spending quite a few hours creating what I thought were some pretty decent animated wallpapers -- I couldn't wait to give them to friends/family, & was very disappointed when I found out they wouldn't run properly unless the PC/laptop had a higher end graphics card/chip.

All 3 DesktopPaints apps do pretty much the same thing to your images, but the output varies -- 1 creates animated desktops, one creates screen savers, & the 3rd creates video files... Today's GOTD, DP Animation Maker, is arguably the most flexible of the lot since you can use other software &/or Windows itself to use the video you create as a wallpaper or screensaver, & as video it doesn't have the same horsepower requirements, though the file size might be larger. DP Animation Maker might also be ideal for creating DVD/Blu-Ray menu motion backgrounds, though depending on your DVD software you might have to convert the results to mpg2 at the proper frame size first.

As above it does take some graphics hardware horsepower to render the FX, so mileage will vary.
Like many of the GOTD games, DesktopPaints.com apps need a certain level of graphics hardware Direct X support, & if you don't have it there really isn't a good workaround. Given the popularity of mini-PCs, netbooks, tablets, & PCs with lower powered on-board graphics, maybe DesktopPaints.com would consider developing similar if more limited apps without their current hardware requirements, maybe using something like Java? Lower power graphics hardware is IMHO much more popular &/or common than it used to be, since with on-line Flash games & apps etc. you don't have the same need for more powerful graphics cards taking up space, power, & costing you extra $. CPUs are also more powerful nowadays, more capable of doing the work themselves so they don't have to rely on graphics hardware as much. And FWIW, the market for apps supporting lower powered hardware is only going to increase with Apple, Adroid, & now Windows App stores.
This GEM works pretty well and does what it claims flawlessly!!

Did not install successfully on WIndows XP Professional SP3
(2 attempts). Shows error signature.
Has anybody using Windows XP SP3 been able to run this application?
It installed and activated fine but keeps on giving error

I see other users having same complaint. If this is not meant for XP, why it includes XP in the System requirement list?

habe das Programm heruntergeladen und instaliert und registriert mit dem Licence code in der read me liste nun ist es aber auf einmal nichtmehr registriert und in der liste ist auch kein code mehr :-((

Ach ja, hab vergessen zu sagen: Das Programm lässt sich leicht bedienen. Man sieht ja immer, was man macht. Auch wenn jemand nicht so gut "English" spricht, kommt auch der Deutsche, der Österreicher und der Deutsche damit gut zurecht. Tolle Sache. Herzilchen Dank an GAOTD und den Software-Hersteller Animation7 Software. Weiter so, GAOTD! Tolle Software auch in den letzten Tagen!!! :O)

Also, das Programm ist wirklich eine tolle Sache und ich bin dankbar über diesen Giveaway-Deal "of today" (von heute.
Ein Problem hab ich allerdings, wobei ich mich frage, ob ich da was falsch gemacht habe (obwohl die englische Sprache als vielsprachiger Schweizer keine Mühe macht).
Das Problem: Beim Erstellen von GIF-Files stimmen beim Resultat die Seitenverhältnisse nicht mehr.
Hier die Details:
Immer zuerst die Breite, dann die Höhe des Bildes in Pixels aufgeführt, zuerst das Eingabe-Format, dann das Resultat.
GIF 01 - 640X480 - RESULTAT 640X320 - 6355 KB
GIF 02 - 640X640 - RESULTAT 640X640 - 12658 KB
GIF 03 - 640X540 - RESULTAT 540X540 - 9174 KB
GIF 04 - 480X640 - RESULTAT 320X640 - 6658 KB
GIF 05 - 640X500 - RESULTAT 640X320 - 6380 KB
Die GIF-Dateien sind zwischen 6 MB und 12 MB gross. Eigentlich auch recht gross für Internet-Anwendungen.
---- Habe mehrere Versuche unternommen, in der Hoffnung, dass mindestens ein Resultat korrekt sein würde.
Zudem hab ich das Programm am Mittag nochmals deinstalliert und neu installiert. Erfolglos! -------
SEHR POSITIV:
Die Funktion "Save as EXE-File" funktioniert hingegen einwandfrei.
Die Anwendung ist 4 MB gross.
Videos in einer vernünftigen Grösse werden hingegen extrem gross und müssen für den Internet-Gebrauch wohl konvertiert bzw. komprimiert werden.
Ich sage wegen der EXE-Funktion "Daumen hoch".
Hoffentlich kann mir jemand helfen wegen der GIF-Funktion.

Das tool ist echt spitze, allerdings die schizo-postings von Tobi, alias Opi, so ist es, könnt ihr euch sparen - reine Provokation eines einzigen Tobitrolls! Ansonsten weiter so und morgen wieder einen Halloween-Saver! Danke!

scheint ein nicht schlechtes programm zu sein, habe es mal kurz angetestet. blöderweise in englischer sprache, werde mich dann eben mühselig durcharbeiten, ich sage mal daumen hoch. und nein, hätte ich damals besser im englischuntericht besser aufgepasst, hätte ich heute keine probleme mit solch programmen, ich habe in den 70´er jahren bei der britischen rheinarmee gearbeitet, ich habe deren englisch nicht verstanden und die mein schulenglisch nicht.

Da das Programm eigene gifs importieren kann (unter: Stationary objects - impoert image)sind der Möglichkeiten keine Grenzen gesetzt. Klasse!!!
Wer also fliegende Herzen oder Weihnachtsmänner in seinem Bild haben will , sucht bei google entsprechende gifs zum downloaden , merkt sich den Speicherort , öffnet den Animatinsmaker , + add animation - Rest s.o. und kann seiner Kreativität freien Lauf lassen.

Ein super tool, wurde hier schon mal angeboten, könnte ich sehr gut gebrauchen, wie alle die schönen tools hier, nur ist die Bedienung etwas schwierig, weil mein Englisch so schlecht ist. Aber ich habe es mir herunter geladen und spiele nun schon den ganzen Morgen damit. Wirklich ein lustiges Programm, gehört auf jeden Rechner. Plötzlich bewegen sich meine ganzen Bildchen.
