Interesting feature found on the "tech spec" web page:

"Slove All Kinds of Data Loss Problems". This worries me as their web page needs data repair. I don't know if it's a typo or a disk error. Please advise.

Amy,

Here's another one, can't imagine what they mean!?? :-) "Untimely turning your computer or pulling out of your device."

If used with a multi drive letter card reader with empty slots it takes minutes to scan for drives! There is no apparent way to get the program to rescan for drives if a memory card is then inserted into the card reader, the entire program has to be restarted!

It apears that this "Professional" program can only access the first four drive letters on any given system and a redundant "Desktop" entry that apears to point to the Systems boot drive. Not good, needs to be reworked to work with all possible drive combinations including raw physical drives that have no letter or folder assignment or damaged partition tables!

TK, I apear to have made a mistake in that last comment I missed a scroll bar that apeared this time that then revealed the missing extra drive letters that time but there was definatly no scroll bar when just the Lexar USB drive E: was used in conjunction with the two internal hard drives with 4 letters associated with it. So the program is unsettingly inconsistant.

here I go
download, installation and activation no problem (Win10 64Bit, upgraded last year from Win 7)
Window not resizable, yet big enough and uncluttered, no USB drive etc attached

Impressive or not, it did point straight away to the hidden 200 MB partition (referred to by DoYour..as lost disk partition). OK, but I do not want to assign a drive letter to that one, so need to "recover".

My "real-life" test was for searching deleted video files (as I do not have any files to recover, always full backup) --- in the simple mode.
Claims to have found 2273 files, split into .dat (2024), .wmv (237), .wav (9) and .mp4 (3).
As the latter were the only ones I cared to test I ticked those and followed the clear instructions not to recover them onto the same drive (the correct and standard way of all recovery tools).
Two of them were deleted only recently (April 30) and the other one in November last year. The November file was useless, whereas the 2 recent ones were fully recovered.

All my test proved was that the chance of recovery is relatively high when deletion was recently, big files at that, but at the same time the living evidence that file backup is way more reliable, quicker and when it comes to costs, cheaper.

Nevertheless, as a Giveaway, not one to downright write off. To buy is another thing, but that aspect is not one concerning us today.

The ramblings of TK who seems to grip onto Desktop as being redundant makes me think that there is way more redundancy about, because adding a USB-cardreader with 2 cards in just now showed both of them up instantly.
I chose the very old Compact Flash card which had been formatted years ago, not used since with deep scanning is going on (3 %). Should anything of use be recovered from that one I will let you know later.

I cannot say whether today's offer is worth the money, all I can tell you is that it works, does not lock up, does not freeze or do anything else unpleasant.
May you never be worried about data loss - treble backup and you should be on the safe side.
Cheers !

Sigrid.DE , I corrected the conclusion to the 4 drive letter limitation, no idea why you are harping on about what was corrected . The corrected findings were that it failed to display all 5 drive letters showing only the first 4 letters but enabled the scroll bar on detection of 6 drive letters or more so was then able to display the full compliment of drive letters. I have no idea why you are so adversarial and insulting, the posts I have made (with corrections) can be used by the developers to fix bugs and design inconsistencies to improve their program. I personally choose not to assume this vendor is lying and using the name tag "Pro" because they intend the product to be used by Professionals involved in ITC industry and not to fluff up a weak product for wannabe domestic users.

I justify that deduction by the developer claiming support for "File System: FAT 12/16/32, exFAT, NTFS, NTFS 5, ext 2, ext 3;" which is more than any other file recovery suites we have been offered through GAOTD have managed.
Most "dimwits"c as you call them would not need file recovery software for Ext2 or Ext3 file systems, let alone know how to mount them as windows compatible drive letters.

The window maximize icon (top right of the window next to the close icon) doesn't do anything.

On the home page and the Next page to select file types to attempt to recover the maximise button is disabled, on the Scan and results screen the Maximise/restore button is activated and works. On pressing the Home button from a maximised results screen the window is restored to the shrunken non-maximisable Home screen. Wonderfully illogical!
