How is this better than Handbrake?

11bravo,
Can't really say it is, it would be if it supported resolutions other than 4k for import. However if you try to load anything other than a 4k res file you get an error:
"NOTE: 4K Converter can ONLY import 4K formats".
To give a breakdown though of what I found:
EDITOR:
I did load one test 4K file and attempted to use the "Edit" functionality. However, when I go to edit on the file the preview window shows a bright and extremely desaturated image. Was able to adjust saturation and contrast, but brightness crashed the editor.
Trimming was simple enough and fairly intuitive, click and drag two play heads, create trim marker, rinse and repeat for multiple cuts. I didn't attempt to use any of the pre-canned filters they have, the only useful one I saw on a quick scroll through was a denoiser. No clue how effective it is as I didn't test.
Watermarking is too simple to be helpful, can only add text. No option to select an image and set transparency.
There's also 3D options which... just add a red blue filter or do left right and top bottom. Have no idea how effective this would be with non-3D footage as it's just shifting the image into two positions and not actually creating 3D parallax.
RENDERING:
Lots of formats supported for output, so I'll give it that. I did a quick test render into H.265 MP4 from a H.264 MP4 on a 30 second 4k clip and it encoded pretty quickly on an i7 8700k at 4.8 GHz.
Not faster than Handbrake though and nowhere near the level of configuration options that you have in terms of encoder tuning, bitrate selections or min/maxes. Simple slider for quality and it shows you the file size as you click and drag, but doesn't tell you what the selected quality is in terms of bitrate.
OTHER STUFF:
Has a YT downloader, but meh. I pasted the URL for a 4K video on YT and it downloaded a 720p file. Only option is to tell it where to download, so not really helpful. Much better web solutions for downloading YT video that are free.
Has a media server option as well, did not want to test this as there are no options for securing access. Literally just opens a port on your internal address to whatever folder you select. Can't prompt for connection password, can't really specify anything. Extremely simple and not really helpful.
I'd say for a free app it's okay, but it's still going up against other free apps:
Handbrake is much more intuitive and powerful when it comes to options and parameters for encoding, and formats supported (not limited to just 4k res).
Any online YT downloaded allows you to select a download resolution for the URL you provide.
Plex's media server is completely free and much more configurable than what's here.

" lets you convert 4K video to 1080p, 720p HD and SD"
So basically what it does is loses quality ? Who would want that?
