Pros:
Easy install and activation on W8. The interface is simple and clean, easy to understand and navigate. It offers drag-and-drop of images (always a plus), an array of quick templates, and numerous settings (like rotate, frame, shadow and more). You can change templates at any time. Use some or all of your pictures, change the resulting page size (pixels, mm, inches, landscape, portrait / custom sizes available), and even add a background image (tile, stretch, center, etc). Tip: there are supplies background tile images, but add more by tossing your own into the program's folder/background/customize. There is also a fullscreen preview.
Cons:
The window is not resizable, only minimizable. Having used drag-and-drop to select images, the program didn't recall my chosen folder location as the default save location. The layout cannot be saved for later & repeated use, so you'll have to start over if you want to repeat a previous layout. Importing custom background images should be made simple, since using them is an option. Saving the collage with a transparent background is not offered.
Overall:
I love collage programs and find CollageIt Pro to be friendly and generally intuitive. While it's a nice program, Collagerator is FREE, comes with all of the pros listed above PLUS more options and doesn't come with any of the cons listed above.
The same version of this programme was offered on 18 Jan 2015. I installed it then on a Win 7 64-bit machine, and have used it happily, though infrequently, since then. It continues to work well even after the Win 10 upgrade.
It offers several templates, which certainly meet my needs, and I am sure those of most home users.
Free version only lets you make a little collage with a maximum size of about 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Too small for me.
Not sure why you are referring to the free version. The version I downloaded and activated produced 8 x 11 (actually a bit larger) inches collage for me. Perhaps some templates are restricted to the size you mentioned.
I installed it & tried it.
Then uninstalled it.
Too simple & not enough control .
You can't rotate & set position on individual photos.
For a free program I like Fotor .
