1. Click "Download Now" on GOTD page.
2. Select email option to receive the download link.
3. Run to email, collect/go to link.
4. Download zip file.
5. Unzip (and notice the exe filename ends with _pt1).
6. Read readme.
7. Click exe to begin installation.
8. Click "Get free activation key" button.
9. Land on SoftOrbits site and asked for an email.
10. Run to email, collect/go to link.
11. Land (again) on SoftOrbits site (yay you're confirmed).

BUT!!!

12. Complete the "Request full version key" form (prefix, first name, last name, country)

This had better be worth it. There are tons of free watermarking software out there.

13. Finally get the key and input it in the installation box.

Option to "Run PicWatermark" or some program name that doesn't match today's GOTD program name.

14. Get transported YET AGAIN to the SoftOrbits website ("thank you, buy an upgrade from us, sign up for our newsletter).
15. AND... program opens to show us a pop-up offering yet two MORE deals. Manually close this box ("x").
16. Finally get to test the program:

PROs
1. Allows drag and drop of files.
2. Clean interface.
3. Standard image watermark options (placement, size, opacity).
4. Allows for saving of the watermark profile for repeated use.
5. Offers a really good full-sized preview before committing to the options.

^^ I expect all of these in a watermarking program.

CONs
1. The convoluted path to finally get to test this program out. Fool me once.
2. Does not allow an easy way to save the completed images to the original source folder. As with many of these programs, there is no "save to the same folder" option, so you're forced to traverse to wherever that is (or wherever you want). This would be fine if all our images are simply on the desktop, but this isn't the case for most. This con is a deal breaker for me, in spite of the aforementioned pros.

I prefer Bytescout watermarking program (offered here on occasion) but it also suffers the same issue of not allowing easy saving to the source folder. In the end, Irfanview's batch mode offers ALL the options of most watermarking programs plus lots more. It remains the clear winner... and it's forever FREE.

Tip: Make Irfanview the default image viewer. Double-click a single image file in a folder to open it. Once open in Irfanview, hit the "B" key to open batch mode (easy access to then select all images in that folder). Select "Use current ("look in") directory".

My use for watermarking: Not to deter thievery -- although it does for some -- but to show viewers the source (URL, artist, etc.).
