I downloaded the previous giveaway and found out about the resources for the free audiobooks at the same time. There's the proprietary downloader/player for the online paid audiobook services that are something else of course which I had used previously. Audiobooks are truly great. Some people similarly to myself, have difficulties with staying focused on the printed page. Free audiobooks are the public domain. But let me introduce this concept a little bit better than previous posters have. One of the resources called LibriVox, is a volunteer organization dedicated to creating audiobooks of public domain books that do include the classics. I downloaded several works by Jane Austin using Audiobooks Pro but also found that the program let me sort out the versions of it, but it is possible to both find and download these items without any program. They are on websites. Hearing through the painstaking chapters of Pride And Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Lady Susan were enlightening experiences for me. There are more I'd like to hear.
Many people may not be aware of the extent to which these classics are referenced in the modern works. For example, the motion picture "Clueless" is an adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma", and one scene in the motion picture "Burlesque" verbatim repeats a dialogue of that same story. I've heard so much about the significance of Moby Dick and have never read it. So I've just downloaded the audiobook, and it is the next thing I'd like to listen to.
Audiobook Downloader Pro gives search capabilities that you can use without knowing where something is located or if it exists. Try it, I suggest, to seek things that you may like to catch up on for the sake of literary equality with those who had learned these works. Literature is still important in our modern popular culture. Any books people mention that you don't know what people mean? I go through that all of the time. 1. Download and install the program, then run it. This giveaway is already activated, so you do not need to deal with serial numbers. (Do note that the regular installable version is highly recommended for you instead of the portable edition, which is for experienced users)
2. On the main window, type-in a search query into the corresponding field, then hit “Enter”. The search string may be a book name, author, or a language name (for instance: “Bible”, “Mark Twain”, or “German”).
3. You can access an audiobook summary by selecting a search result item, and then calling the File -> Open Audiobook Page menu command.
4. Download an audiobook (File -> Download Audiobook), then listen and enjoy it!

It's a nice program, only thing is that... Freeware (public domain) books are old, and mostly... Well, not that interesting to own for your e-reader. Sure, it's literaruture - but that's about it usually : )
So, enjoy if you are a reader of the Classics. If not, skip this. Google will give you the same results. Or one of the many many many we bcollections online...

Audiobooks are a great way to learn or improve the listening and speaking skills of a foreign language (English in my case…LOL!)
So this tool is perfect for me!!

Was eager to try this out. Downloaded and installed on Windows 7. No need to register. Tried to download two different books but it just stayed on 0% for each one until it timed out.
Bit disappointed and hope the problem can be sorted out.

Grausame Hörbücher! Die Software ist ja ganz nett und die Möglichkeit das Ganze auch portabel zu starten finde ich auch prima.
ABER
1. von den ca. 5000 verfügbaren Hörbücher sind nur ca. 300 in Deutsch
2. von den ca. 5000 verfügbaren Büchern sind nur ca. 15 in Russisch
mehr hab ich nicht ausprobiert.
3. meine Auswahl der deutschen und russischen Büchern zeigt, dass hier blutige Laien quasi am Küchentisch stümperhaft Bücher vorlesen ... und genau DAS ist zum totalen Abgewöhnen von Hörbüchern. Eine schlimme Erfahrung. Deshalb gehört das Proggi auch in den (Küchen)mülleimer!

Das Teil ist nicht schlecht, habe schon lang die Vorgängerversion, die es hier auch mal gab. Wer deutsche Bücher sucht, muß nur "german" in die Suchmaske mit eingeben (natürlich ohne die " ").

Erfordert eigentlich optimalerweise kostenpflichtige Audiobook Player Software (Angel´s Vox - 30 Tage Testversion). Funktioniert aber auch mit Media Player!
Abgesehen davon sind die Bücher auf Librivox.org oder auf www.archive.org natürlich immer auch online lesbar und mit etwas mehr Geduld geht´s Herunterladen auch ohne dieses Zusatzprogramm.
Hauptsächlich ist dieses heutige GOTD also interessant, weil es einen überhaupt erst auf die großartige Leistung derer aufmerksam macht, die in mühevoller unbezahlter Freizeit all die Bücher "ein"lesen und online zur freien Verfügung stellen auf den genannten (und anderen) Plattformen!! Also ruhig mal danach googlen!!

Klasse, kinderleicht zu bedienen und über Kinderbücher, Klassik, Geschichte, Lyrik... eine große Auswahl. Die Downloads sind auch gleich in Kapitel aufgesplittet und in mp3 oder Ogg in drei unterschiedlichen Qualitäten speicherbar. Ok, einfach vor die Suche [German] eingeben und man erhält die Hörbücher von Literaturklassikern, was für Schullektüren,usw. sinnvoll ist, aber für den Normaluser wahrscheinlich nicht sehr brauchbar.

An sich eine nette Idee, nur blöd, wenn nur Bücher auf Englisch angezeigt werden. Falls es eine Möglichkeit gibt, dies umzustellen, wäre ich dankbar, diese zu erfahren.

Leider mit Virus - zumindest - Verdacht. Von Norton Internet Security 2012 (Sonar) wurde das Setup umgehend ohne Wiederherstellungsoption gelöscht. Ich bitte die GaD Mannschaft, das Programm nochmals zu überprüfen. Danke!

Super tool heute. Erstmal die deutsche Oberfläche eingestellt und mit Hilfe der Multipart Multithreading Technik hunderte von Audiobüchern schnell herunter laden. Du findest dabei auch haufenweise deutsche Audio-Bücher. Das Open Audiobook Page Features ermöglicht zu jeder Zeit eine deutsche Buchzusammenfassung zu lesen. Alle Daumen hoch, das beste GAOTD in diesem Jahr. Vielen Dank an GAOTD!
