Why is the "portable" version not offered?
Nigel, there is no portable version. But you can install this version to a USB stick:

Rreadme says no registration code needed, however as soon as file was opened said I needed to upgrade after upgrade registration box appears.
I cant register so box comes up every time I open.

The giveaway edition of Atlantis Word Processor does not require a registration code. When you choose the "Help | Check for Updates..." command of Atlantis, it displays the following message:

Are you sure that you want to replace your giveaway copy of Atantis Word Processor with a trial copy of the latest standard version of Atlantis Word Processor? (Yes / No)
-----------------------------
If you click "Yes", your giveaway copy of Atlantis gets replaced with the standard trial version of Atlantis that requires registration.
So if you want to keep the giveaway version of Atlantis, you should not replace it with the standard version of Atlantis.
You might wish to reinstall the giveaway version one more time.
Highly customisable, including a choice between a classic interface with menus or something more akin to the ribbon.
It just shows what can be done with just 2.85MB: Microsoft, take note!
I've been using Apache Open Office for over 10 years. It's FREE and compatible with Microsoft Office. In addition to a word processor, Open Office includes a spreadsheet and a database. Did I mention it's always free?

How much space do Open Office, Libre Office, MS Office take? For want of a word processor, ATLANTIS takes less than 6MB space--installed, and it can be run from a USB disk!
Heartfelt thanks to GiveAwayofTheDay, I've been using previous versions of ATLANTIS. Despite its size with little demand on space on a USB disk, it's feature-packed! It's my favourite word processor.

Hemmungslose Begeisterung? Nun, ich denke: JA! Es scheint ein hervorstechend absolut cooles brauchbares Programm zu sein, soweit bisher mein Eindruck. Sogar die Sprache kann geändert werden, lädt Deutsch-Österreich runter.
Gut, auch nach Programmneustart bleibt alles wie es ist; Das Menü bleibt in Englisch. Scheinbar bezieht sich das (nur?) auf die Gramatikprüfung?
Ja, ich werde mich hier einarbeiten, weil es extrem umfangreich ist, also viele Möglichkeiten der persönlichen Verwirklichung bietet. Ob es auch halbwegs normalen Text in relativ kurzen Sätzen Text relativ perfekt übersetzt, darauf bin ich besonders gespannt. Das würde ich mir nämlich erwarten und brauchen. Ich freu mich schon auf jeden Fall auf diese "Entdeckungsreise."

seriously? The only advantage above OpenOffice is application-Size? For 6 Bucks, you can get a 32GB stick openoffcie portable is 150 mb in size. *clap* *clap*.
My question would be: Can you add Plugins/Extension to make up for the m issing features that the big free open source projects like openoffice , libre [...] have?
I've tried this product and im not as happy as many people are here with this software. IM writing on my bachelor-thesis and cant recommend this product it lacks so many features im used to with word.
Also in the Era of cloud-computing, Google, and Microsoft offer FREE webbased solutions. (if you have got at least a 128kbit/s modem at home) Otherwise i highly recommend openoffice over this product.

Für Autoren ein wirklich sinnvolles Programm. Noch sinnvoller ist das unschlagbare Update Angebot für eine echte Lizenz. Vielen Dank für dieses sehr gute Programm.
Die Probleme von "Daumenrunter" kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Bei funktionierte der Download einwandfrei.
Allerdings musste ich Drittanbieter Cookies anschalten, um das sehr günstige Lizenzangebot (wie gesagt, kam bei Update und lag bei ca. 6€) per Amazon Pay nutzen zu können. Aber das liegt an Amazon Pay, nicht an GOTD oder dem Anbieter.

tdahh, wie hast du das Update Angebot denn erhalten. Hier auf der Seite seh ich nix davon und nach der Installation kam auch kein Angebot irgendeiner Art.

Ich habe das Programm gestartet und "Help" / "Check for Updates" ausgewählt. Nach der Meldung "bla bla ... nur giveawayoftheday und kein Update bla bla" habe ich ich die Installation des Updates einmal abgelehnt und danach noch einmal "Help" / "Check for Updates" aufgerufen und bestätigt, dass ich die Testinstallation installieren will. Danach kam das Angebot für sehr wenig Geld die volle Lizenz zu erhalten.
Das war der Weg, soweit ich mich entsinne. Vielleicht geht es auch auf andere Weise, aber ich habe nun eine volle Lizenz.

tdahh, das mit "Help" / "Check for Updates" hab ich auch gemacht, hab aber dann abgebrochen, als mir angezeigt wurde, dass es ein neues Update gibt (weil ich mir dachte, wenn ich jetzt auf den Update-Button drücke, dass dann gleich das Update startet und meine Giveaway-Lizenz dann evt. weg ist). Nach deiner Antwort hab ich dann gewagt, trotzdem auf den Update-Button zu klicken und da kam dann erst diese Meldung, die du oben erwähnt hast - und dort kann man dann auf einen Button klicken, der einem zu Lizenzangebot von knapp 6€ bringt.
Also danke nochmal für die Erklärung, hab jetzt auch die volle Lizenz für 6€.

Also ich auf auf "Help" / "Check for Updates" geklickt. Danach konnte ich was installieren, was vom Installationsablauf genauso aussah, wie die erste Installation. Hat ohen 6 Euro geklappt. Die hätte ich ich mir dafür nämlich schon geleistet.
