No bad tool today...in short it’s an indicator for the currently used keyboard layout language, giving you an indication of a text’s language instantly.
As GAOTD it’s OK and pretty much handy when for instance you wonder what kind of language you stumbled upon when you reach a webpage written in a different language than yours (in fact whenever you click on the language it shows you a small abbreviation for it).
Useful only for those who often need to switch their keyboard layout between multiple languages (for instance people who work in the translation field or know more than one language).
If you know just one language (English) and need only the English keyboard layout, this GAOTD is obviously totally useless (and by watching the current ridiculous low GAOTD rating it looks like almost anybody here knows just one language).

The idea is good, if you need different keyboard layouts. This idea must come from a cyrillic (or chinese...) programmer.
The idea is good, but I could not test it. It doesn't not work on my system. nada, nil, nothing. For the next try, I downloaded the portable version from their website and the same null effect. Does it work on Win 8.1???

Yes, I have different keyboard layouts, so it cannot be a missing alternative. I have installed the German, French and English keyboard, this is done quick in Win 8.1 with the keyboard sign in the symbol bar, where I have a virtual keyboard, too.
Downloaded ok, registration went funny though. Entering the key with copy paste didn''t work, however’t hen i used the "get key from zipfile" option and I pointed to the downloaded file the ok button went black and i could press it.
It sort of works but way to limited. I get the NL abreviation when typing in Windows search box in start menu (Windows 8.1 64bit with Iobit Startmenu 8) however I see it in non of my browsers or text editors, not in any blogging software, not in windows live writer, heck the only software so far that it worked with that has anything to do with writing was advanced diary which I still didn't uninstall and Skype, didn't check other messengers. Oh and it didn't work in Phrase Expander.

I could use the idea or program though, living in Belgium;
3 official languages (NL,FR,DE) luckily only 1 officially rcognised keyboard; sadly this is azerty; not an easy keyboard, i prefer qwerty.

Das Gejaule hier ist unerträglich. Hier wird jeden Tag hochwertige, schadsoftfreie, deutsche Software kostenlos angeboten und dann folgt prompt das Genörgel der ganzen Schüsselscheißer. Nehmt euch ein Beispiel an mir, ich schreibe hier grundsätzlich keine postings zu den hier veröffentlichten tools. Ihr solltet euch in Grund und Boden schämen. Geht endlich in die VHS und lernt die einzig wahre Sprache auf dieser Welt: Englisch in Wort und Bild. Vielen Dank an die edlen Spender!

normalerweise gibt es nicht mal menschen die sich die zeit nehmen um so ein nutzloses etwas zu programmieren. ist das aus einer übungsstunde von erstklassler in edv ?

Kannst Du Die farbig anschauen, welche Tastaturbelegung Du Dir im Vollrausch reingehauen hast.
Da kommt man doch vor Lachen nicht in den Schlaf!
Eigentlich müsste man wegen dieser wirklich urigen Idee 10 Sterne vergeben.
Aber nur wegen der Idee - das man das tatsächlich auch noch umgesetzt hat, rechtfertigt wieder den Abzug aller Sterne.

Similarly, I have to use different keyboard layouts - but one can simply recognize the acivated keyboard in the lower Win toolbar and change it correspondingly. You have just to make this litte keyboard toolbar visible in the options.
I wouldn't pay for such a function.

Wer den Sinn dieses Programms nicht versteht, soll einfach mal ALT+SHIFT drücken und anschließend Folgendes in die Adresszeile seines Browsers tippen: _\@/_

Heute alle Daumen hoch. Auf so ein tolles Programm habe ich gewartet, damit ich immer weiß, welche Sprache gerade auf meiner Tastatur eingestellt ist. Nun bitte noch ein Tool, das mir immer anzeigt, in welcher Richtung sich das nächste Klo befindet und wie ich den Ausschaltknopf finde, das vergesse ich nämlich auch immer wieder.

Hä? Was soll denn das? Für $14 genau so wenig hilfreich, aber komplett umsonst. Wieso 10,4 MB? Was bekommt man da wohl für schadsoft Dateien mitgeliefert. Also bitte, ihr solltet euch was schämen. Da wäre jeder Screensaver die bessere Wahl gewesen. Daumen runter und weiter geht's.

Downloaded, installed and activated fine, no problems. (Win8.1, 64)
I use four keyboard layouts quite regularly and often mixed in a single document so it seemed like a useful tool. While the colour cursor shows and works perfect in Notepad, it does not work for in LibreOffice where I would actually need it. I do not have MS Word installed, thus cannot comment on that. Skype works, but for reverse languages (ie arabic) the side of the cursor where the abbreviations are written does not change, so it obscures part of the typed text.
As such, I like the idea, but the range of programs that can use it seems limited (unless I missed something). I am still on the fence about keeping it, will probably test for longer.
