Oh yes!! This was my favourite PC maintenance tool till last year!!

Remember that this has a 6-month subscription, ie- it's just an extended trial period. I used to be a large fan of ASC5. Now with thanks to Giovanni you can replace all the functions with better freeware. The Advertising pestering from iobit will always be annoying.

Iobit's marketing stunts went from bad to worse long since. Once it discovered it could persuade computer users to actually pay for a rudimentary (and thus, largely ineffective) folder hider ('Protected Folder') and then get them to pay yet again to 'renew' after 12 months, it landed on the idea of punting out 6-month trialware in the guise of freeware.

It's doing exactly the same thing today in regards to a suite of utilities plus bolt-on separate programs that in my own experience -- which doesn't necesssarily mean it will be the same as someone else's -- don't out-perform the offerings from Wise, the high-repute software developer that has become iObit's biggest commercial threat.

Wise comprehensively demolished iObit's $40 buy / $20 a year ever after Protected Folder with its entirely free Wise FolderHider:

and then met iObit head-on in the system utilities genre with WiseCare 365, where as can be seen here:

the entirely free version -- not trialware, not time-crippled compulsory renewal ware -- is in operation very little different from the paid-for.

Nothing about this latest version of Advanced SystemCare appears -- according to IObit -- to be anything other than a tinkering around with the earlier version, which, thanks to GOTD, I DL'd last year and then ran in a comparison test with WiseCare365. Though ASC was more 'feature packed' (i.e., bloated) its core performance of fundamental utilities was no better and no worse than WiseCare's.

That today's giveaway of the day is actually today's trialware of the day is unfortunate but in the interests of checking and testing there's no reason -- well actually, there are several (see next paragraph) -- why others here shouldn't DL the iObit offering and contrast and compare it with its freeware WiseCare365 rival.

As to the caveats: (1) allowing *any* utilities suite, doesn't mnatter what it is, to start when Windows boots is highly inadvisable; (2) running *any* registry cleaner / optimizer without first setting either a System Restore point, or a registry back-up, is equally highly inadvisable. And (3) handing over your computer to always-on 'running maintenance' by *any* program other than a reputable antivirus, firewall, monitoring software such as WinPatrol and malware monitoring by Malwarebytes is plain daft.

Thanks then, GOTD. But isn't it about time iObit was told to stop this kind of time-crippled promotional hype -- in its own commercial best interests?

Please be aware that IObit Advanced SystemCare has been stealing virus signature data from Malwarebytes. The latter was able to confirm this by planting fake virus signatures in their updates and, sure enough, these were flagged
by Advanced SystemCare and no other anti-virius programs.
